During the last years, METC center has been in touch and supporting Vietnam Education through a series of activities in Israel and back there in the fields of Innovation in Education and the STEM Educational Approach according to Israeli Educational System.

In two opportunities, during these three years, KDI sent, through the embassy, delegations focused on these issues. Also, in the last two years, he managed to organize a workshop in Vietnam with XLN of REUT Group (http://xln.org.il/tlv/?lang=he) which promotes Makers Education. Moreover, they are using Code Monkey (https://www.playcodemonkey.com/) and CODERZ of Robotec/Intelitek (http://robotec.co.il/) in their Innovation centers.

In this framework, Damian Filut, Deputy Director of the center visited Vietnam to strengthen this relationship and continue the transfer of knowledge, a continuum exercise of knowledge sharing that is the flag of the Israeli development policy.

The visit to Vietnam was focused on the STEM educational Approach and how Israel is applying this educational approach, methodologically and pedagogically.

This was a successful first step in terms of opening the doors in this specific field of education with the Vietnamese educational system which is familiar with other educational approaches and very different educational pedagogies.

Furthermore, this topic in the long term has an impact on the choices students will do regarding their studies and the national economy. In case this program is scaled up and gets to a high number of students this may generate an impact in the students’ professional choices and an economic impact in the long term.

During this visit to Vietnam, Filut had the opportunity to meet with different stakeholders. Three main events were organized: A presentation of the STEM approach to the educational community in Ho Chi Minh and two training courses to 30 teachers each, in the same city and in Hanoi.

Vietnam is an educational partner to the center and we are confident that further joint activities will be organized in Vietnam and in Israel.
